Isuma Collective
The Isuma collective is an Inuit led media art and film collective. In line with traditional Inuit values we work very collaboratively and not as rigidly as the general film industry. Isuma's work has gained international recognition at film festivals (Camera d'or Cannes for the film The Fast Runner) and in the art world, but it remains deeply grounded in the life of Inuit in the Igloolik area of Nunavut. The Isuma collective will represent Canada in the Venice Biennial in 2019.
Inuit culture has been a great teacher to me in keeping an artistic integrity, in the importance of community centred values, and in staying true to what is important to you and prioritizing the power of the human experience over flashy, fast paced media.
